Frequently Asked Questions
What part do I play in the actual wine making process?
The fun part! Your job is to sprinkle in the yeast at the beginning of the process, then bottle the wine at the end. Bottling the wine takes about 30 minutes – and don’t worry – we’ll be there to show you how it’s done!
How long does it take to bottle the wine?
It typically takes about 30 minutes to bottle a batch of wine.
What’s the difference between juice and concentrate?
Kits made with juice tend to be higher quality and are thus more expensive. Concentrates are more economical but can still yield excellent results. Talk to our wine specialist for more information on which wine would best suit your needs.
How many bottles does a batch of wine make?
A batch of wine produces 30 bottles of wine, each 750 ml.
When will my wine be ready?
Depending on the kit, our wine takes between 4-8 weeks to produce.
How long will my wine last once bottled?
If stored correctly, wine should last between 2-5 years depending on the type. White wine typically has a shorter shelf life and should be aged no longer than 2-3 years. Red wine tends to improve with age and can be kept for 3-5 years.
How should my wine be stored?
For the first week after bringing home your wine, the bottles should be kept standing up. After one week, lay them on their sides. Keeping the bottles on their sides ensures that the cork stays hydrated and well sealed. Be sure to keep your wine at a moderate temperature, especially if aging red wine.
What are your corks made of?
Our corks are made of cork. While plastic corks are economical, they are terrible for the environment. We want to do our part by using a product that is biodegradable, which cork is!
Can I bring my own bottles?
Absolutely! If you have your own bottles feel free to bring them when it comes time to bottle your wine. If you’re just starting out, we have new bottles available for purchase.
How do I sanitize my bottles?
After finishing a bottle of wine, give it a quick rinse. Do not use soap, as it can leave a filmy residue that may be difficult to remove. On bottling day, we’ll show you how to sanitize your bottles with our sprayer system. It’s easy and it only takes a few seconds.
Will labels be provided?
Each kit comes with its own labels, which are included in the kit. After bottling your wine, you can adhere your labels and even add a seal over top of the cork if desired.
